Our Reddit Apps

We do not just run Reddit for clients, we build for it. These are our apps on Reddit's official App Directory: tools we wrote for the recurring jobs moderators end up doing by hand every week until they stop doing them at all.

Both are free, both install in a couple of clicks from Reddit itself, and both run inside Reddit with no account of ours attached to your community.

Community Recap

An automatic weekly recap of your subreddit, posted on schedule.

Plenty of communities write a weekly recap by hand and then quietly stop. This one reads the past seven days through the Reddit API, ranks it, and publishes a formatted summary on the day and hour the mod team picks.

  • check_circle Top posts, most discussed posts and top comments, which are rarely the same three lists
  • check_circle Community highlights naming the top contributor and the best comment of the week
  • check_circle By the numbers: posts, comments, people posting and members, each compared to last week
  • check_circle Subscriber milestones, an optional comment goal, and a closing discussion prompt
  • check_circle Preview by private message before anything is published, and publish now for a first run
  • check_circle Every section can be turned off, and a quiet week skips them rather than posting empty headings

Posts as a text post, or as a stats image with the written recap pinned as the first comment.

Install from the App Directory open_in_new Free. Installs on your subreddit, moderator permissions only.
Throwback Bot app icon

Throwback Bot

Brings back one good post from your community's own past, on the days you choose.

Throwback Thursday, Flashback Friday, Way Back Wednesday. Pick the days, and the app finds the best thing your community posted on that same date a year ago, or two, or five, and posts it again. Nothing to write and nothing to remember.

  • check_circle One item per enabled day: top post, top comment, most controversial, most discussed, or surprise me
  • check_circle Photos and links are crossposted so they still look like the original, text is quoted with a link back
  • check_circle Per-day settings: what it resurfaces, the post title, and the hour it goes out
  • check_circle Title placeholders for the original title, author, score, comment count and how long ago it was
  • check_circle Minimum score, excluded users, recurring-thread filters, and it never repeats an item unless you let it
  • check_circle Preview to your inbox first, and every item is re-checked for removal before it is published

It works from day one: your old posts are already on Reddit, so there is no year-long wait for an archive to fill.

How we build them

A mod tool is installed by someone who is already tired of being burned by one. These are the three rules we hold ourselves to, and they are the reason both apps are dull in the ways that matter.

visibility

Nothing posts without your say-so

Both apps ship with a preview action that sends the result to your Reddit inbox and publishes nothing. You see exactly what would go out, with your own community data, before it goes out.

lock

They read your community and nothing else

Both run entirely inside Reddit through the official API, with the moderator permissions you grant on install. Neither makes a single request to any service outside Reddit, ours included.

tune

Defaults you can live with

Anything that touches your members is off until you turn it on. Throwback Bot ships with one day enabled, not seven, and Community Recap leaves user flair alone unless you ask it not to.

Need something these do not do?

We build Devvit apps, so if your community has a recurring job that should be running itself, tell us what it is. We will say if it is worth building and if Reddit's API can actually do it, which is the part that usually decides.
